He was born in Mveso, Transkei, South Africa on July 18, 1918 he accomplished many great thing in his life. He fought his government and its racist policies by using nonviolent methonds. In doing so he becacme the first black president of South Africa in 1994, serving until 1999. He also was a symbol of global peace making that he also won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993.
